This year I am going to have a crack at the Canadian Miniaturists exhibition - work to be handed in July for an August exhibition, I'll let you know how I get on. This will be a new adventure which really excites me, watch this space for completed images...

A special thank you also goes to Mr Cornwall for his patience while waiting for me to complete his commission. I have a passion for fine pencil studies and have always enjoyed this medium, but lately I have a renewed interest after completing a geology piece. Thank you.
Well more Aboyne meetings are looming, so good luck to everyone who is involved, whether exhibiting for the first time or being part of the team who sets it up. It's a great exhibition which I look forward to each year.
Lets see what the year brings.......Jenx

Where has the year gone!
I have had the best year of my life this year, as I got married in May. Chris and I had a great time together with all the family up at Mar Lodge in Braemar. So as you can imagine the art work went on hold for a while. We had the best time together in South Africa on honeymoon, hence the sketches I did for artaboyne. I took so many reference shots, that I think there were nearly 2000 by the end of the first week, and we went for three! Artaboyne was a huge success this year, as I had a sell out exhibition, which really was fabulous, what a great year I am having. I have days to go before NEOS (North East Open Studios) Sat 12-20th Sep. This year I am exhibiting with Annette Bird at her Burdalane Studio in Milltimber, Contlaw Rd, so please if you have time drop in and say hello.
I have also just got through the post my acceptance into this years RMS. Again I feel very proud to have had my work chosen. Unfortunatley I cannot make it down to London this year, but hopefully I will be down there again in 2010.
A quick note.. I will also be keeping my 'art name' as Musker Thank you.

Its been a while since I have updated my news as I have been really busy this year with various exhibitions and putting extra effort into producing my final six pieces for the Royal at the Mall Galleries London. Well it paid off, I was phoned by Elizabeth Meek the president of the RMS who informed me that I had been selected for full membership of the Royal Society of Painters, Sculptors and Gravers. So I now have an RMS after my name-hurray. The Earl of Glasgow opened the exhibition on the 13th October and it finished on the 26th. I went down to receive my diploma and to help steward, where I met a lot of artists so I can now put a face to the name. It is certainly worth a visit each year if you are ever down in London mid October.

Well as Christmas is upon us, I have just handed in a few more new miniatures into the Milton for their Christmas exhibition, If you have a little time drop in for a nosy!
I have also been working on new miniature landscape compositions which are of the munros I hike. They also include the birds and mountain hare I have seen whilst at 3000ft. We got so close to the mountain hare that my partner Chris nearly stood on one, now that's a great heart stopping moment. If these compositions work then they may be out late next year.
Me and Chris are getting married next year so my artwork may have to go on hold for a short while! This doesn't mean that you won't see me still out and about with sketchbook and camera, but there may be a limited amout produced in 2008. So I am already working on ideas for July and October exhibitions!
Once again a big thank you to all my customers who this year have kindly paid for my wedding dress! I thank you again for your support as it boosts my confidence to know you appreciate the time and effort I put into a piece and that someone out there will enjoy what I have loved painting.
Thank you Jen

It's been a great year so far, I have exhibited at new venues - Tomintoul in Granton and the Alexander Gallery in Bristol where I displayed some new miniatures.
Artaboyne has proved to be a success after much hard work putting the display together. I sold five paintings on the preview evening and continued my lucky streak selling 44 pieces altogether including prints and mounted works.
NEWA in Liverpool was also very successful, and this year my work was chosen for the private view invitation. As well as having my work used on the invitations I also sold all my pieces entered. I managed to go along to the exhibition and I was very impressed with the standard of wildlife art, I feel I will have to work extra hard to get my pieces in next year!
The Royal Society of Miniature Painters, Sculptors and Gravers (RMS) are running their exhibition in October this year and I have entered six pieces which have all been accepted. If only I had read my own blog I would have known that I would not be eligible to be put forward for consideration to make full membership until 2008 after three years of having all six accepted, so fingers crossed for that next year!- I'll let you know how I get on.

Well Christmas will be upon us in a few days time, so I would like to
take this opportunity to thank the customers and galleries for all your
support over the year, and here's to a great 2007. To end the year I have
just had my miniature paintings accepted by a gallery in Bristol called
the Alexander gallery, and I am very pleased to have been selected. The
exhibition runs from the 4th to the 31st of Dec. if you are in the area.

I have just come back from holidaying in Italy and I am feeling refreshed
and ready to paint again. It has been a hectic but very successful few
weeks as the artaboyne exhibition has just come to a close, and already
we are talking about how we can make it even better for next year! Congratulations
to all the artists, as sales were very high this year, and also a very
big thank you to the purchases of my work. I do hope you will enjoy them
as much as I enjoyed painting them. Well I must get cracking with the
Autumn and Winter collection of Miniatures ready for Christmas and the
new year.

Just back from London after stewarding at the Mall for the first time.
I also collected an award! I must be on a winning streak! I was awarded
the Anita Emmerich Presentation Award for my painting of a Dark Green
Fritillary on Spear Thistle. The award is presented for work that achieves
'perfection in every aspect'.

What a nice letter I had drop through the door the other day. I was informed
that: Congratulations, we are delighted to tell you that you were
awarded a Highly Commended in the Wildlife Artist of the Year Competition,
with your painting 'Autumn Delights'.
I could not believe it until I opened the magazine and saw my picture
printed. I had entered a photograph of a painting I had sold last year
and have now been Highly Commended in the amateur category (as I do not
earn enough, and have not been published before to enter the professional
category) by the Wildscape Wildlife Art and Conservation Magazine.
There were over 129 entries from all over the UK, France, Italy the USA
and South Africa. I am very excited to have been selected at all, as the
other winners work is outstanding. When they send me the certificate I
will have to take a photograph of me with the certificate next to my winning
entry for the magazines next edition, so I will post it up here when I
have.
It's official, I have made it into the Royal Society of Miniaturists
as an Associate, hurray. I now have the right to use the initials ARMS after my name. 2005 was a big challenge to see if
I could get my work accepted for a second year and be elected for membership.
I received a phone call from the president, Elizabeth Meek to inform me
of my success which was so exciting. On June 2nd I was at the Mall on
the opening day and as a bonus Rolf Harris opened it, he was a very genuine
and friendly person. I also received a certificate/diploma as part of
my election, which I am very proud of. It will now take another three
years before I can be put forward for full membership as an RMS, and only
if I get six pieces accepted over the forthcoming years!

The NEWA (National Exhibition of Wildlife Art) was great for me as I
sold there as well. If you want to look at the exhibition the website
